Boddington's Family

Celebrating 80 Years of Boddington’s

2026 marks an incredible milestone for Boddington’s Preserves as we celebrate 80 years of family-run business in Cornwall.

From growing fruit and vegetables on the family farm to producing award-winning preserves enjoyed across the UK and internationally, the business has evolved across four generations while staying true to its roots.

Cornwall Since 1946

The story of Boddington’s began shortly after the Second World War, when the family started growing fruit and vegetables on a smallholding in Cornwall.

Over the decades, strawberries became a key crop, with generations of the family involved in growing, picking, and selling fruit. For many local people, Boddington’s strawberries became a familiar taste of a Cornish summer.

As the business evolved, so did the opportunity to preserve that flavour beyond the season itself. What began with strawberry jam in 2001 gradually developed into a much wider range of premium preserves.

Today, while strawberries are still grown on a small scale locally through Boddington’s Berries, we now produce 14 flavours of jams, marmalades, chutneys, and relishes from the same Cornish smallholding.

Four Generations, One Ethos

Although plenty has changed over 80 years, we have always prided ourselves on being big enough to deliver, yet small enough to care... even when delivering all the way to Japan. Will Boddington holding a stack of Chilli jam

Every jar is made with exceptionally high fruit content and without additives, preservatives, or added pectin. That clean-label approach has become a defining part of the brand.

In a market where ingredient lists often become increasingly complicated, Boddington’s continues to focus on simplicity: fruit, sugar, lemon juice, and time.

Award-Winning Preserves

The last few years have been especially exciting for the business.

Since 2024, every current product in the Boddington’s range has received either a Gold or Silver award from Taste of the West, recognising both quality and consistency across the range, including but not limited to:

  • Strawberry Conserve
  • Raspberry Conserve
  • Blackcurrant Conserve
  • Orange Marmalade
  • Chilli Jam
  • Red Onion Relish
  • Apple Chutney
  • Seasonal specials like Damson & Mulled Wine and Chocolate Orange Marmalade

Evolving With the Times

While tradition remains at the centre of the business, Boddington’s has continued to evolve.

In recent years, the company has:

  • Refreshed its branding and packaging
  • Transitioned to FSC-certified paper labels
  • Reduced unnecessary plastic packaging
  • Expanded its catering and gifting formats
  • Increased focus on sustainability and responsible sourcing

Reaching 80 years is something very few family businesses achieve, and it would not be possible without the support of customers, stockists, suppliers, and everyone who has supported Boddington’s over the decades.

From a little fruit and veg farm in Cornwall to cheeseboards and cream teas across the country, we want to thank everyone who has been part of the story so far.

Here’s to the next chapter of Boddington’s Preserves.
